Receive professional tips and portfolio reviews, and get hands-on experience by creating and storyboarding your own comic book page. —no drawing skills required! This workshop is equally suited for writers and artists.Note : ​You are encouraged to bring any other materials that you want to bring and art portfolio. Jan will give you feedback on ideas for stories, but won’t read anything more then about 100 words: you need to be able to sell him on a story in a few words verbally!

Doctor J. Scherpenhuizen works in a variety of styles and mediums and have done everything from comic book continuity to corporate cartoons and realistic illustration. He is a stalwart of the Australian comics scene, known for writing and illustrating the gritty horror graphic novel The Time of the Wolves. He has collaborated with ace writer Christopher Sequeira on numerous projects, including Mister Blood and Catamorph. Recently, he completed a 350-page literary graphic novel as a doctoral project at the University of Sydney. His short stories feature in anthologies such as Sherlock Holmes: The Australian Casebook and Cthulhu Deep Down Under. His latest work includes art for THE HUMAN FLY #0 and the SuperAustraliansseries.
