From BBR Festival to Bastille Festival. The story behind the Food Wine Art Revolution
Bastille Festival Sydney was born BBR Festival in 2013 in front of the historical venue of Customs House in Sydney CBD. It was named after the three colours of the French flag “Bleu Blanc Rouge”, celebrating the French National Day “Bastille Day” as well as sharing the French way of life with Australian people.
In July 2017, BBR Festival celebrated its 5th Anniversary and for the occasion was renamed “BASTILLE FESTIVAL SYDNEY”.
In 2018, Bastille Festival Sydney grown again with new amazing experiences and of course more Food, Wine and Art.
Over the past six years, this free annual event has become the most anticipated street gathering celebrating French Culture in the city and brings the very best things in life – FOOD, WINE and ARTS – right to the heart of Sydney.
Bastille Festival Sydney 2019 takes over the iconic Circular Quay, being held a few meters away from the Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge and the Museum of Contemporary Arts Sydney.
Held over the Bastille Day weekend, from Thursday 11 July 2019 to Sunday 14 July 2019, French people will be celebrating FOOD WINE and ARTS, while at the same time, unifying people and countries behind the beautiful spirit of Bastille Day in a giant street celebration.
Bastille Festival Sydney sets up not only 5 food villages but 10 wine bars and beer gardens, 104 live concerts, 2 Dj sets, 1 cabaret show, 7 movie screenings on deck chairs, more than 40 street live performances all day and night from circus to country-folk dances and music.
