Ella Belfanti Performing Live!
Thursday 12 – 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm – First Fleet Park Main Stage
About the artist :
Winner of the ‘Best Guitarist’ at the Bluesfest Busking Comp and hailed as “The next big thing!” by Yumi Stynes (of ABC’s ‘Ladies, We Need To Talk’ podcast), Ella Belfanti is a solo artist with a sound as full as a band. Brandishing her guitar, stomp box and loop pedal, Ella takes the audience on a journey through the folky ballads of her debut EP, to groovy atmospheric blues, largely instrumental percussive guitar pieces, and fast-paced heralds to the confusing human condition. What her songs all have in common is a strikingly genuinely quality and to-the-point lyrics that can only be described as raw.
Ella has appeared at the Sydney Opera House performing for All about Women Festival, has played at festivals including Byron Bay Guitar Festival, Illawarra Folk Festival, Byron Bay Bluesfest, Peak Festival, Marrickville Festival, Buskers by the Creek, and has shared bills with greats such as Julia Jacklin, Phil Emmanuel, Fiona Boyes, Jeff Lang and newcomers such as Tash Wolf and Josh Needs. Her covers of John Butler’s Ocean, The White Stripes’ Seven Nation Army, Pearl Jam’s Alive and Amy Winehouse’s Valerie have won her standing ovations. And her original songs have seen her make waves in Sydney’s live music scene, as well as playing shows across Byron Bay, The Gold Coast, Melbourne, Brisbane, Noosa, NSW Snowy Mountains, and in the Illawarra Region.
“A couple of standout acts…. on the younger side Ella Belfanti, percussive acoustic guitar with an absolute killer vocal as well.” – Mark Lenzo, Illawarra Folk Festival.
