Josh Needs performing live
SUNDAY 16 – 1 pm to 2 pm – Customs House Main Stage
About the artist :
Josh Needs is a young singer, songwriter and virtuoso guitarist with a musical brilliance far beyond his years. His career highlights have already included collaborations with some of the greatest names in Australian music.
The story of the young singer, songwriter and extraordinary guitarist began as his eleven-year-old self picks up his instrument of choice for the first time after aspiring to play like one of his older brothers. He began playing professionally at 13, writing songs at 14, and throughout his later teens, performing solo, and in bands wherever he could, honing his craft and developing what would become the dynamite live show that he is known for today. Bringing his high energy stage presence to such festivals as Australia’s Woodford, Blues On Broadbeach, Airlie Beach Music Festival, Tamworth and an appearance at the Sydney Opera House. Independently released two albums, self titled ‘Joshua Needs’ (2012) and ‘Journeys Road’ (2015). March 2017 saw Josh release his latest music “VECTOR” [EP]. Taking inspirations from John Mayer, Ed Sheeran, and The Emmanuel Bros, Josh recorded these songs at A-Sharp Studios in Riverwood, Sydney working with producer and engineer Nathan Sheehy. The winner of the Tamworth Country Music Festival Busking competition (2013) graduated from the prestigious Academy of Country Music in Tamworth 2015. Additionally, Josh was one of 23 selected out of the entire population of music students in New South Wales who completed the HSC Music course in 2014 to perform at the prestigious Sydney Opera House. This was an incredible honour and will be an experience he’ll never forget.
